Winter Village

These snug houses sit nestled together, mixing whatever shapes or colors please the builder, without anyone worrying what the neighbors will think. Their glitter snow will never be tracked indoors. Their holiday trimmings won't fade or wilt. And every year, the village will come out of storage looking exactly as everyone remembers it.

Lump of Coal Gift Box

We all know what good-for-nothings get in their stockings: coal. But something is different this year. These sparkling nuggets are no ordinary lumps but gift boxes embellished with paint, paper, and lots of glitter. The faux-coal pieces are just the right size to package earrings, a rolled-up tie, and other small gifts. Looks like landing on the Naughty List isn't so terrible after all.

Sparkling Snowmen Treat Boxes

Sparkling snowmen make an impressive display (the big figure stands more than a foot tall) and double as treat boxes for candies.
The spheres for these frosty figures come in different sizes. The large snowman has a 4 3/4-inch round treat box as its base, with 2 foam balls on top: 4 inches and 3 inches. The small one has a 4-inch round box and a 2 1/2-inch foam ball.

Yule Log Favor Boxes

These versions of the yule log, a quintessential symbol of the Christmas season, are actually favor boxes; they resemble birch logs, thanks to our clip art wrapped around paper-towel rolls.
Glittered birds have made their nests on top. Wooden disks on the ends of the logs keep the treats -- Champagne-bubble gumdrops -- inside.

Sparkling Holiday Cards

Landscapes and architecture are ideal subjects for cards, and they look great with a dusting of glitter. Many computer programs offer antiquing functions that "age" a photo in seconds.

Glittered Santa Treat Boxes

Santas in multiple sizes can be crafted using oval treat boxes, red paint, clip art, and glitter. Egg-shaped pressed-paper boxes come in a range of sizes. Larger ones can accommodate toys and accessories; small ones are perfect for candy. Use the version of clip art and templates sized to fit your box.

Hardware Cloth Snowflake Ornament

Some of the most distinctive holiday ornaments are those made from unexpected materials. This ornament, a snowflake whose symmetry resembles the grid of a crossword puzzle, is created with wire mesh, glue, and glitter. Use the template below to help you shape the wire.
